Welcome to Comfortable Computing
We all know that sitting for prolonged periods can lead to pain, stiffness and poor posture. Comfortable Computing is a series of exercises you can do in your chair that are ideal if you sit for prolonged periods.
The Comfortable Computing exercise series is a simple and effective way to:
• Reduce physical tension and strain from prolonged sitting
• Improve your posture and comfort at work
• Enhance your well-being
The series of 6 Comfortable Computing MP3's are 8-10 minute movement lessons that you can do sitting in front of a computer at your workplace.
Sitting doesn’t have to mean holding a stiff upright posture that is painful to maintain or slumping in you chair. These recordings will teach you how to make “mini- movements” in your chair which will help you learn to sit with a relaxed easy posture.
The movements incorporate whole body patterns which are based on the natural design of your muscular and skeletal systems and directly relate to the way you sit in a chair and use a computer. These lessons are ideal for anyone in an office environment who experiences muscular tension and pain due to sitting for prolonged periods. By educating staff on seated posture techniques, it helps reduce worker's compensation claims, and with the guidance of an Occupational Therapist, is effective in assisting the re-introduction of staff to the workplace who are on a return-to-work program.
You can explore these lessons initially over a period of several weeks, and then on an ongoing long-term basis. Set aside a 10 minute break to do each lesson, and then experiment with the movements in your chair for the next few days. You might like to repeat each lesson several times until it becomes very familiar.
Some guidelines for doing these lessons
• Make the movements slowly - Never force or strain. Your body learns more effectively if the movement feels good
• Close your eyes to enhance your body awareness
• If the movement causes pain, do less or stop doing it and try another lesson
You will quickly discover the power of these lessons in helping you discover an easy, relaxed, sitting posture and improved awareness of your body. The Comfortable Computing lessons will show you how to move your body while sitting in your chair, and will help you develop an easy, relaxed sitting posture.
The Comfortable Computing lessons are verbally guided sequences that are easy to do and feel good. Comfortable Computing can be done easily anytime whilst you are actually sitting - at work or home.
