Leadership development programs for every career stage

Practical leadership programs that help managers communicate clearly, handle difficult people issues and keep teams engaged.

Your managers are leading through constant change and growing people pressures. Many were promoted for their technical capability, then expected to handle difficult conversations, keep teams engaged and respond consistently when people issues arise. When that support is missing, unresolved tension and inconsistent leadership often land back with HR or People & Culture.

Leadership development programs are structured workplace training programs that help managers and team leaders build the practical communication, engagement, motivation, conflict resolution, and people leadership skills needed to lead effectively in modern workplaces. Holistic Services Group delivers leadership workshops, webinars and structured pathways onsite across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, regional Australia and New Zealand, and virtually nationwide, in New Zealand and across Asia-Pacific. HSG has been delivering leadership programs to Australian organisations since 2003.

Why manager capability matters now

Managers shape much of the day-to-day experience of work. When they are underprepared, difficult conversations are delayed, expectations vary between teams and preventable people issues are more likely to escalate to HR.

Leadership development cannot solve every organisational issue, but it can strengthen the everyday management practices that influence engagement, communication and the early resolution of people problems.

What the programs involve

Programs are facilitated by specialist leadership facilitators and structured as practical, interactive sessions rather than lectures. Participants work through real scenarios, practise communication frameworks, and leave with tools they can apply the same week. Programs can be tailored to the cohort’s seniority, industry, organisational context and current leadership challenges. Available formats:

  • a single leadership workshop
  • a 60–90 minute webinar
  • a half-day or full-day interactive session
  • a multi-session leadership pathway
  • a leadership offsite or conference session
  • part of an annual leadership development calendar

Core leadership capability workshops

The Seven Pillars of Business Health

HSG’s proprietary leadership framework, drawn from the Culture of Wellness© program. The Seven Pillars (Morale, Attitude, Performance, Purpose, Relationships, Support, and Acceptance and Inclusion) give leaders a structured lens for understanding where team culture is strong, where it’s under pressure, and where leadership behaviour will have the greatest impact. Available as a one-hour introduction to the framework, or as a multi-session series exploring each pillar in depth.

The Seven Pillars of Business Health - HSG's proprietary leadership framework covering Morale, Attitude, Performance, Purpose, Relationships, Support, and Acceptance & Inclusion.

Practical frameworks for recognising conflict early, reducing escalation, and moving towards mutually workable outcomes.

Psychological Safety for Leaders: building the conditions where team members feel safe to speak up, ask questions and raise concerns.

Difficult Conversations Training: feedback, performance conversations, conflict, boundary-setting and emotionally sensitive exchanges.

Navigating Uncertainty for Leaders: staying composed and guiding teams through ambiguity, restructure or sustained pressure.

Frequently asked questions

HSG’s programs are designed for managers and team leaders at every level, from newly promoted frontline managers through to senior executives. Content and scenarios are calibrated to cohort seniority, industry context, and the specific leadership challenges they face. Programs suit intact leadership teams, mixed cohorts, or staged leadership pathways. Client organisations range in size from 50 to several thousand employees across the corporate, government, healthcare, education, and not-for-profit sectors.

Standard management training focuses on the operational aspects of the role: planning, performance management, compliance, and reporting. HSG programs focus on the human dimensions: communication, team engagement, psychological safety, mental health awareness, conflict resolution, and leading with composure through change. They complement rather than replace operational training, and address the capability gaps that drive retention, culture and psychosocial risk outcomes. Leadership training can strengthen communication, early response and management practices, but it does not by itself demonstrate WHS compliance. Organisations must still identify psychosocial hazards and eliminate or minimise risks so far as reasonably practicable through appropriate work design, consultation, supervision and other controls.

HSG reports back on attendance, participant confidence ratings, manager observations and repeat enrolment. Programs are designed to support stronger team engagement, more consistent management behaviour, more confident handling of complex people situations, and documented leadership capability that contributes to psychosocial risk management. In our experience, outcomes are strongest when programs are delivered as a structured series rather than as one-off sessions.

The Seven Pillars of Business Health is HSG’s proprietary leadership and culture framework, developed through the Culture of Wellness program. It identifies seven interlocking dimensions that shape team wellbeing and performance: Morale, Attitude, Performance, Purpose, Relationships, Support, and Acceptance and Inclusion. The framework can be delivered as a one-hour introduction for leadership cohorts who want to understand the model, or as a multi-session series exploring each pillar in depth and giving leaders practical strategies for applying it with their own teams.

Yes. Many organisations begin with a single workshop, often the Seven Pillars of Business Health introduction, Conflict Resolution, Open and Authentic Communication, or Mindful Leadership, and build from there. A single session is a practical, low-risk starting point and can be expanded into a multi-session leadership pathway over time.

Yes. HSG can tailor the content, examples, format and depth to your leadership cohort, industry and current organisational challenges. Programs are available onsite across Australia and New Zealand and can also be delivered online across Australia, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific.
