Movember workplace programs supporting men's health
Movember is about more than moustaches. It’s about giving the men in your workforce real support.
Movember runs throughout November each year. Launched in Australia in 2003, the Movember Foundation has grown into one of the world’s most recognised men’s health movements, funding research and programs across prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health, including suicide prevention.
For employers, Movember is an opportunity to do something meaningful for the men in the workforce: not just a fundraising drive, but structured programs that address the health challenges men face. Holistic Services Group delivers facilitated Movember programs covering both the physical and mental dimensions of men’s health, onsite across Australia and New Zealand and live online across the Asia-Pacific, with facilitators experienced in engaging male-dominated and mixed-gender workforces.

Why Movember matters in the workplace
Men’s physical health
AIHW estimated that prostate cancer would be Australia’s most commonly diagnosed cancer in 2025, accounting for 30% of cancers diagnosed in Australian males (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Cancer data in Australia, 2025). Testicular cancer is also one of the more common cancers in younger men. The workplace gives employers a practical setting to share health information and encourage regular check-ups.
Men’s mental health
In 2024, 76.5% of Australians who died by suicide were male (Australian Bureau of Statistics, Causes of Death, Australia, 2024). Men are also, on average, less likely to disclose or seek help for mental health difficulties. A workplace workshop is not a clinical intervention or a substitute for effective psychosocial risk controls, but a well-facilitated session can build awareness, improve knowledge of support options and give people practical language for starting supportive conversations.
Who these programs are for
Movember programs work in both male-dominated workforces, such as construction, manufacturing, mining, logistics and technology, where men’s health risks are often elevated and conversations less normalised, and in mixed-gender environments, where programs that help all staff better support the men in their teams are equally valuable. Sessions suit whole teams, specific cohorts, and the managers and HR professionals who shape whether men feel safe to speak up.

Movember workplace programs available from HSG
Programs can be delivered as short lunch-and-learn sessions, 90-minute workshops or half-day formats, onsite or via live webinar.
Men’s health awareness workshop
An engaging, evidence-informed workshop covering the key physical health issues facing Australian men, including prostate health, testicular health, cardiovascular risk, and the importance of regular health checks. Direct and practical rather than clinical. Suitable for all-male and mixed-gender workforces.
Men’s mental health and resilience
Explores the mental health challenges men commonly face, including stress, burnout, depression and social isolation, and the cultural factors that shape how men relate to them. Focuses on practical skills. Part of HSG’s Men’s & Women’s Health Workshops.
Empowering others: supporting the men in your team
For managers, team leaders and HR professionals: how to create an environment where men feel safe to raise health and wellbeing concerns. Participants learn to recognise signs of distress men commonly mask, initiate a genuine check-in, and connect colleagues to support.

How to make Movember count for your workforce
Moustaches and fundraising are a visible, valuable part of Movember culture, but the more lasting impact comes from pairing that visibility with structured programs that give men real tools. A morning tea and a donation link is a start; a facilitated workshop that leaves participants with practical mental health skills has a different order of impact.
Movember works best as part of a sustained commitment to men’s wellbeing rather than a standalone annual event. HSG can design a program that uses Movember as a catalyst and maintains momentum through focused touchpoints across the year, including Men’s Health Week in June.
Movember in practice
Vinidex — Men’s health for a regional, male-dominated workforce
Challenge: A predominantly male, regional team where mental health was not an easy topic to raise, and where men were unlikely to seek health conversations independently.
What HSG delivered: A facilitated men’s health and mental health session, with the facilitator selected and briefed for the specific workforce.
Outcome: Strong engagement across the room, with employees approaching the facilitator afterwards for further insight, and reported gains in the confidence to open up and talk about mental health.

What organisations are saying
Lisa Ticehurst picked out Merv Neal, who was fantastic. In a room full of regional males, Merv had his work cut out for him — yet every single person was engaged throughout, and multiple employees approached him afterwards for further insight into mental health. The feedback was that this session was the highlight of the day, and it’s given employees the confidence to open up and talk about mental health.

Frequently asked questions
Movember runs throughout November each year. It was launched in Australia in 2003 and has become one of the world’s most recognised men’s health movements, raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health.
HSG offers three dedicated Movember programs: a men’s health awareness workshop covering physical health, a men’s mental health and resilience workshop, and a session for managers and team leaders on supporting the men in their teams. All are available onsite or via live webinar, in formats from 45 minutes to half a day.
Yes. While the programs focus specifically on men’s health, they are designed for both all-male and mixed-gender settings. The manager-focused session, Empowering Others: Supporting the Men in Your Team, is particularly well suited to mixed groups, as it centres on how all colleagues can better support the men in their teams.
Yes. Many organisations combine HSG’s facilitated programs with a Movember fundraising campaign to create a month of sustained engagement around men’s health. The programs provide the substance and skill-building; the campaign provides the visible cultural moment. HSG can advise on how to sequence the two for maximum impact.
We recommend booking by mid-October to secure your preferred facilitator, format and timeslot for November, as programs in the first two weeks typically fill first. HSG has experience delivering in construction, mining, manufacturing, logistics and technology, where health conversations are less normalised. Men’s health programs are also available year-round as part of an Annual Wellbeing Program. Contact us for a tailored quote.
