Turn workplace wellbeing training into lasting action
One session informs. Three sessions turn learning into lasting action.
Most workplace training follows a familiar pattern: a facilitator presents information, participants engage for an hour or two, and everyone returns to their desks. Without structured follow-up, that learning is often not applied on the job. The Impact Program is Holistic Services Group’s answer to that challenge: a structured, three-session process that guides participants from awareness to practice to reflection on any workplace wellbeing topic.

Why sustained learning matters
Workplace wellbeing is a significant investment, and HR and WHS leaders need a defensible case for programs designed to be effective, not just well received.
- Mental ill-health carries a major cost: mental ill-health and suicide cost Australia an estimated $200 to $220 billion per year, including $40 to $70 billion in direct economic costs, according to the Productivity Commission’s Mental Health Inquiry Report, 2020.
- Effective programs return more than they cost: Australian research found an average return of $2.30 for every $1 invested in effective workplace mental health initiatives, through reduced absenteeism, presenteeism and compensation claims. Read PwC’s Creating a Mentally Healthy Workplace, 2014.
The word that matters in that second figure is effective. HSG’s multi-session format is designed to support that kind of return, giving participants the repetition and practice that research on learning retention points to.
What is the Impact Program?
The Impact Program provides three facilitated sessions on a topic you choose, spaced over time for integration and practice. Each session builds on the previous one, guiding participants from understanding to application to reflection.
It covers HSG’s core topics, including mental health, resilience, leadership, stress management, and psychological safety, and more. You select the subject, and HSG provides the method. The program can be delivered onsite, online via live webinar, or in a blended format, and suits teams, cohorts, leadership groups and whole-of-workforce delivery.
How the three sessions work
Session 1: Inform
Participants are introduced to the topic in depth. Core concepts, evidence and frameworks are presented. Similar in format to a standard HSG workshop, but it sets the foundation for deeper engagement in sessions two and three.
Session 2: Apply
Participants revisit and consolidate the key concepts from session one. The focus shifts to practical application: structured exercises, tools and activities let participants engage with the content in the context of their own work and lives.
Session 3: Reflect
A participatory, reflective session. Participants discuss their experiences applying the concepts between sessions, share what has and hasn’t worked, and consolidate their learning. The facilitator draws the threads together and sets participants up for sustained practice beyond the program.
Why three sessions work where one doesn’t
The research on behaviour change is consistent: people generally need repeated exposure to new information before they internalise it, and structured opportunities to practise new behaviours before those behaviours become habitual. A single session can build awareness and intent; sustained change typically benefits from the repetition and practice that a structured series provides.
The Impact Program is built to provide that repetition and reinforcement across three sessions. HSG measures each program using attendance and participation rates, pre- and post-session self-ratings, participant feedback on usefulness, the commitments participants make in session two, and the reflections gathered in session three — giving HR leaders a documented record of engagement and reported confidence to share with leadership.

Who the Impact Program is for
HR, WHS and People & Culture leaders: if you’ve run workshops that drew positive feedback but want more from the investment, the Impact Program offers a structured, multi-session alternative that gives you a documented record of engagement and reported confidence to share with leadership.
WHS and psychosocial risk teams: for organisations managing psychosocial hazards under Australia’s WHS regulations, the program provides a documented, multi-touch intervention on topics such as psychological safety, stress management and resilience. See Psychosocial Risk Programs. Training like this can support a broader psychosocial risk strategy, but it doesn’t replace the consultation, risk assessment and work-design controls required under WHS duties — see Safe Work Australia’s Model Code of Practice: Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work.
Learning and development teams: the three-session structure maps to standard learning design (introduction, application, review) and can sit within a broader capability program or run standalone.
Leadership teams: sustained engagement with topics such as emotional intelligence, psychological safety and navigating uncertainty can directly influence team culture and performance, which makes the multi-session format especially well-suited to leadership cohorts.
What HSG clients are saying
Andrea conducted our first of the 6 week block yesterday – 45 minute Pilates session. She found the perfect balance of enough of a challenge for the more experienced and not too much for the beginner. Thank you HSG and we look forward to the rest of the 6 weeks with Andrea.
Thank you Ryko! Your meditation session was amazing, and staff’s feedback was very positive. Your delivery style and energy were perfect for the online event, and you gave us practical, easy to follow techniques to take away.
How to get started
The Impact Program starts with a short consultation to confirm topic, cohort, format and delivery timing.
- Initial consultation: clarify your objectives, select a topic, and identify the participant group.
- Program design: HSG prepares tailored session outlines and schedules delivery dates with your stakeholders.
- Participant onboarding: HSG coordinates invitations, pre-program surveys, and internal promotion materials.
- Session delivery: your group attends three interactive sessions, typically spaced two to four weeks apart, with practical activities and guided reflection.
- Ongoing engagement: participants receive reflection prompts or practice tasks between sessions to reinforce learning.
- Measurement and feedback: HSG distributes post-program surveys and shares a summary report of observed outcomes and recommendations.
Programs can be scoped and confirmed within two to three weeks of initial contact. The Impact Program can also form the backbone of an Annual Wellbeing Program or a Custom Workplace Wellbeing Strategy.

Frequently asked questions
The program is most effective with groups of 10 to 30, where there is enough diversity of experience to enrich discussion while keeping a cohesive group. Larger cohorts are accommodated through parallel groups with dedicated facilitators, coordinated by a lead facilitator to ensure consistency, and scaled to enterprise-wide rollouts. It is particularly effective for leadership groups, since the multi-session format lets leaders practise new approaches with their teams between sessions and bring real observations back to the group.
The program is available for all HSG topics, including mental health, resilience, stress management, psychological safety, emotional intelligence, leadership, work-life balance and mindfulness, with custom options for unique needs. Some organisations arrive with a clear topic; others start with HSG’s staff-needs survey, which uses the Seven Pillars of Personal Health framework to identify priority areas. Either approach works.
The program is designed to build knowledge, confidence and reported usefulness, and to support broader goals such as engagement, psychosocial risk management and culture. HSG measures attendance and participation, pre- and post-session self-ratings, participant feedback on usefulness, the commitments participants set during the program, and reflections gathered in the final session, then shares a summary report. Outcomes vary by topic, cohort and organisation, so HSG reports what is observed rather than guaranteeing specific figures.
Behaviour change typically requires repetition and practice: a single session can build awareness, while a structured series gives participants the chance to apply and reflect on new approaches over time. With Australian research showing an average $2.30 return per $1 invested in effective workplace mental health initiatives (PwC, 2014), the value lies in programs designed to be effective. The Impact Program is built for practice and application, and HSG measures the result through attendance, participation, self-ratings and participant feedback.
A standard workshop is a single session that builds awareness and introduces concepts. The Impact Program delivers three structured sessions spaced over time, with intentional gaps to allow participants to practise and reflect. That repetition and reinforcement is what is designed to produce lasting behaviour change rather than short-term awareness.
The Impact Program is HSG’s three-session behaviour-change methodology, designed to move participants from awareness to lasting application on any workplace wellbeing topic. Session one introduces core concepts; session two helps participants apply them in real work scenarios; session three provides structured reflection, sharing outcomes and consolidating learning.
