Support Safer Movement, Recovery and Sustainable Energy at Work
Your teams’ bodies are paying the price for how modern work happens. Long hours at screens, workstations cobbled together at home, back-to-back meetings, and movement squeezed into the gaps all add up.
Over time, the cost surfaces as musculoskeletal complaints, lower energy, reduced focus, and the workers’ compensation claims that quietly accumulate on your desk. Physical wellbeing isn’t a soft benefit. It’s the foundation of how your people show up, focus, recover, and sustain performance over weeks, months and years.
Workplace physical wellbeing programs are structured, evidence-informed services that support movement, recovery, ergonomic setup, energy and sustainable performance. They include corporate massage, ergonomic assessments, fitness, yoga, pilates, nutrition and health assessments. Holistic Services Group has been designing and delivering physical wellbeing programs for Australian organisations since 2003, supporting more than 1,600 corporate, government, healthcare, education and not-for-profit organisations.
Why physical wellbeing deserves a place in your WHS strategy
Modern work can create different physical pressures across desk-based, hybrid and operational roles. Understanding which risks a wellbeing service can genuinely address is essential when deciding where it fits within a broader WHS strategy.
- Body stressing remains the leading mechanism: Body stressing was the most common mechanism of serious workers’ compensation claims in Australia in 2023–24 provisional data, accounting for 34.5% of claims, according to Safe Work Australia’s Key Work Health and Safety Statistics 2025.
- MSDs carry substantial cost: In NSW, musculoskeletal disorders account for 52% of serious claims, and the average serious MSD claim costs $64,759, according to SafeWork NSW’s Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention Plan 2024–2026.
HSG’s physical wellbeing services can support elements of prevention, participation, health awareness and recovery. They should complement—not replace—hazard identification, safe work design, reasonable adjustments, statutory WHS processes or appropriate clinical care.

How HSG approaches physical wellbeing
HSG approaches physical wellbeing as part of a broader, integrated wellbeing system, not as a series of standalone services. Physical Health is one of the Seven Pillars of Personal Health, HSG’s proprietary framework spanning Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, Nutritional, Spiritual Health and Self-Fulfilment. HSG’s programs target four practical levers across the modern workplace:
- Movement: counteracting sustained sitting with structured group activity and individual exercise
- Recovery: releasing accumulated tension through massage, stretch and mindful movement
- Workstation setup: reducing posture and setup-related risk factors through ergonomic intervention
- Fuel and energy: supporting sustained cognitive and physical performance through nutrition education
Physical wellbeing also supports mental health and resilience. For many organisations, it is the practical entry point that makes broader wellbeing work more visible and engaging. See Mental Health & Resilience for the connected pillar.

Onsite sessions are available across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, regional areas nationally, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific. Virtual delivery is available nationwide, New Zealand and across Asia-Pacific.
Sessions are designed to be welcoming, practical and accessible, not gym-class intense or clinical. HSG’s specialist facilitators tailor pace, intensity and content to mixed-ability workplace cohorts, so participants of any fitness level can take part with confidence.

Topics range from sustained energy throughout the workday and gut health to specific dietary approaches. Delivered by qualified nutritionists in interactive, judgment-free formats. Food for Mood draws on Australian research on diet and mental health. The SMILES trial (Jacka et al., BMC Medicine, 2017) found that participants with major depression who followed a modified Mediterranean diet experienced significantly greater reductions in depression symptoms than the control group. This session is educational, not a treatment for depression or other mental health conditions.

Featured client story: Allens
We used Holistic Services to run fitness classes, meditation classes and a mindfulness seminar as part of a six week health and fitness program we ran for staff. Holistic Services were great – from the start, they did everything they could to make sure our program was a success. Their pricing was competitive and they were adaptable when we had to change elements of our program. The instructors they provided were excellent and we got good feedback from staff on the quality of the classes and the mindfulness seminar.

Why HSG
Holistic Services Group has delivered workplace physical wellbeing programs across Australia since 2003. Sessions are delivered by specialist facilitators: qualified massage therapists, certified ergonomics consultants, accredited yoga and pilates instructors, qualified nutritionists and exercise professionals, each with discipline-relevant credentials.
Programs are coordinated through a single point of contact, so clients managing multiple services don’t have to manage multiple providers. For organisations consolidating physical wellbeing, mental health, leadership and culture work under one provider, HSG’s Annual Wellbeing Program and Custom Workplace Wellbeing Strategy provide the structure to coordinate the full picture. See: SafeWork NSW’s Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention Plan 2024–2026.
Suggested program pathways
The four pathways HSG clients use most often, depending on the outcome they’re prioritising.
For visible staff care and quick wins
Start with Corporate Massage, one of HSG’s most popular services for demonstrating visible staff care. Pair with Workplace Fitness Classes or Corporate Yoga for an ongoing weekly rhythm.
For desk-based and hybrid teams
Begin with Ergonomic Assessments to reduce posture and setup-related risk factors across home and office setups, layered with Corporate Yoga or Pilates for postural recovery and Fitness Classes for movement. Add Nutrition Programs for sustained focus.
For WHS and injury prevention
Ergonomic Assessments as the foundation, paired with Workplace Health Assessments for early risk detection and Fitness Classes for active recovery. Can support broader body-stressing risk management as part of a WHS strategy.
For an integrated annual program
Combine four to five services across the year: massage in high-pressure periods, weekly Fitness or Yoga/Pilates, quarterly Nutrition seminars, Ergonomic Assessments at onboarding, and Health Assessments anchored to a campaign week.
Frequently asked questions
HSG delivers physical wellbeing programs for whole workforces, intact teams and individual staff in specific roles. Programs suit desk-based teams in corporate, government and professional services environments, hybrid and home-office workers with inconsistent setups, frontline and operational staff in physically demanding roles, and event attendees at wellbeing days, conferences and campaign weeks. Client organisations range from 50 to several thousand employees across all major sectors.
EAPs and physical wellbeing programs address different things. EAPs support staff through mental and emotional issues, typically reactively. Physical wellbeing programs proactively address the body, reducing injury risk, building energy and recovery capacity, and demonstrating tangible staff care that EAP support alone cannot deliver. They are complementary, not substitutes.
Body stressing — muscular stress from manual handling and repetitive, low-load movement — is the leading cause of serious workplace injury in Australia, and musculoskeletal disorders account for 52% of all serious workers’ compensation claims in NSW (SafeWork NSW, 2024–2026). HSG’s ergonomic assessments, workplace fitness, yoga and pilates programs support movement, postural recovery and early risk identification for desk-based and hybrid teams; in HSG’s own experience, this also helps address the discomfort many staff report from home and office workstation setups, a related but separate observation from Safe Work Australia’s official body stressing scope. These programs can support your organisation’s broader WHS injury prevention efforts, alongside — not instead of — your existing risk controls.
HSG reports back on attendance, participation, feedback, and repeat engagement. Programs are designed to support reduced musculoskeletal complaints, improved energy and focus, stronger morale through visible staff care, and documented injury prevention capability. Our experience is that outcomes are strongest when programs are delivered as a sustained rhythm (weekly or monthly) rather than as isolated events.
HSG facilitators run welcoming, accessible sessions designed for mixed-ability workplace cohorts, not gym-class intense or clinical. Sessions are pitched so any participant, regardless of fitness level or starting point, can take part with confidence. Massage and ergonomic services consistently see the highest workplace participation rates because the value is immediate and tangible.
Yes. HSG works with you before delivery to understand your workforce demographics, the physical demands of the work, your current setup (office, hybrid, or frontline), the campaign or compliance context, and any specific cohorts that require tailored content. Sessions are designed around the real circumstances your people face, not generic content.
Yes. Many organisations begin with a single Corporate Massage day, an Ergonomic Assessment for one team, or a Workplace Fitness Class as a trial, and build from there once participation and feedback are visible. A single session is a low-risk starting point and a practical way to assess fit before committing to a sustained program.
