Align your team around shared goals with a vision board workshop
When strategy and priorities mean different things to different people, even a capable team pulls in several directions. A facilitated vision board workshop turns shared goals into something visible, memorable and easy to come back to.
Runs as a standalone session, or as part of a team day, conference, offsite or planning day.

What is a team vision board workshop?
A team vision board workshop is a facilitated, interactive session in which participants use images, words and guided discussion to represent shared goals, values and a preferred future. The finished board becomes a visual reference point for the priorities and commitments agreed during the session.
Holistic Services Group delivers team and personal vision board workshops for workplace groups, conferences and staff wellbeing events, onsite or online.
Why shared direction matters
A strategy can be clearly written and still be read three different ways. When people hold different pictures of success, priorities fragment and everyday decisions drift from the intended direction.
- The wider cost is significant: low engagement cost the world economy an estimated US$10 trillion in lost productivity, equivalent to 9% of global GDP, according to Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2026 findings.
- Alignment shows up in results: comparing business units in the top and bottom quartiles of engagement, Gallup finds differences of 23% in profitability and 70% in employee wellbeing (Gallup, Q12 Meta-Analysis, 11th edition, 2024).
A vision board is not a substitute for strategy, clear roles or good leadership. Its value is in helping people say what success means to them, hear what it means to everyone else, and leave with a shared prompt that leaders can connect to real decisions.
Who is a vision board workshop for?
The team format suits intact and cross-functional teams, leadership groups, newly formed or merged teams, hybrid teams, and departments moving through change. The personal format works for whole-staff wellbeing days, conferences and internal events. Participants choose what they share, so personal disclosure is never required.
Choose the right vision board format
Team vision board and goal setting
Participants create one shared board, or aligned individual boards, around the team’s purpose, values and priorities. It suits the start of a planning cycle, a newly formed team, or any group that needs a clearer picture of what it is working towards together.
Team vision for navigating change
For teams facing restructure, growth or uncertainty, the facilitator works through what should be preserved, what needs to change, and what the next chapter should look like. The creative format surfaces perspectives that rarely emerge in a conventional planning discussion.
Vision board — bringing your dreams to life
Participants build individual boards focused on goal clarity, purpose, wellbeing or development. It adds a reflective session to a wellbeing day or conference while leaving each person in control of what they explain to the room.
What happens during the workshop?
Before delivery, HSG confirms the session purpose, the participant group and the right tone. The workshop is then shaped around the conversation your team needs to have, and typically includes:
- Guided reflection on priorities, values and what success would look like
- Individual thinking time, so quieter perspectives are not lost
- Group discussion to identify recurring themes and shared language
- Selecting the images, words and phrases that represent the direction
- Building the shared or individual boards
- Optional sharing, with participants choosing what they explain
- A practical closing step, such as one commitment each or a date to revisit the board
Workshops are typically 90 minutes, with longer formats available for planning days and offsites. Onsite workshops use printed imagery and collage materials; online workshops use a shared digital canvas that keeps distributed teams participating, not watching. A vision board session can run as a standalone workshop or sit inside Team Building & Culture Workshops, a corporate retreat or offsite, or a broader Employee Engagement Program.
What your team leaves with
The immediate outcomes are practical and visible:
- A completed team or personal vision board
- Clearer language for the goals, values or direction discussed
- A better read on what different team members consider important
- An agreed commitment or follow-up conversation
- A visual reference the team can return to in later discussions
The workshop supports shared purpose, connection and open conversation about priorities. Broader cultural change depends on what happens next: results are strongest where managers revisit the board and connect it to current decisions.
